Railroad Operator is in testing! Copies of version 1.0A have gone to the Alpha test team who will work with it in their home environments. Further releases will take place later this year. In the mean time, to whet your appetite, we've published a preliminary copy of the user's manual on the Documents page. Also, here is an actual screen shot of a typical layout (this happens to be our own little portable test layout) showing some of the many items that can be defined:
Among the items shown here are:
At the top right are panel selectors, to choose from up to 8 display panels. Informative messages are at the bottom, and system menus across the top. Clicking the large button near the upper left stops the railroad and places the system into edit mode, so new track or other devices can be added. Below is a typical screen in edit mode. This one is used to set up signal control logic.
Note that there are no scripts or other computer programming to write. Just point and click to define the signal's behavior. Nearly any type of signal control logic can be set up using this screen. Signals are set up by selecting various combinations of block occupancy, turnout state, and control switches. In the partial example shown above, the default signal aspect has been set to GREEN, as shown in the list at the bottom. One condition for setting the signal RED is for Block 3 to be Occupied, as shown on the second line of the listing. For the signal to be set YELLOW, Block 3 must be vacant and Block 4 Occupied (line 3). Any number of additional conditions can be added as needed for any required level of complexity. Notice also that the sequence in which the signals are connected, as well as the polarity required at the outputs, are easily selectable by the user. For more details, refer to the user's manual on the Documents page. |
