The SC-2 Servo Controller is now available! With the SC-2, you can control two semaphores (or one dual headed semaphore) or a pair of crossing gates and flashers, as well as other automated items on your layout. The SC-2 is available as a circuit board alone (kit or assembled), or attached to an acrylic mount with a micro-sized servo attached and ready to use. If you want to control two semaphores or a dual crossing gate, a second servo and mount is available separately. You can also provide your own servos and mounts, if desired. The SC-2 allows both of its attached servos to be precisely positioned in any of three positions, corresponding to a red, yellow, or green signal input. Very fine adjustments can be made to align the arm or gate as desired, without any tricky linkage adjustments. In addition, the speed of movement of the arm or gate can be controlled in small increments to allow rapid or very slow, realistic motion. The flash rate of the crossing flashers can also be adjusted as needed. Below is a picture of the SC-2, with its white acrylic mount and micro servo. Adjustments are easily made by flipping the slide switches and pressing the Increment and Decrement buttons on the board. The SC-2 can be controlled by a computerized system, such as our RCI, or SECSI, or CMRI cards. It can also be operated directly by nearly any block detector that has an open collector, open drain, or relay output. Or, you can run it manually from a single-pole double-throw toggle switch.
The acrylic mount has pre-drilled holes to attach it to the underside of your layout, and the servo comes with several types of arms to provide long or short throws, and a "quick-link" for simple attachment of a control wire. The connectors on the right will operate your semaphore light, or alternating crossing lights. In crossing gate mode, separate control of the gate and lights is available, so they can be operated independently. Note: Assembled mounts are available in left hand (shown above) or right hand (with servo on right side). Dual mount packages have one right and one left. Kits can be built either way. Manuals for the SC-2 and Mount are now available on our documents page. Introductory Prices: SC-2 Controller Kit requires fine point soldering iron,
acid-free solder, and basic soldering tools.
