The new IO-24 Mini-Card is now available! This
compact but highly-functional card includes the following features:
 | 16 Output Points and 8 Input Points on a very compact card (3.8 " x
2.5"). |
 | Complete compatibility with our previous IO-48 card. Includes every
function from the IO-48 except input scanning. This allows you to use it with
Railroad & Co. and other compatible software. |
 | Power Output Drivers: Bi-directional power
drivers on all 16 outputs. Allow you to drive common anode, common cathode, or
bipolar LED signals; stall motor switch machines; and two-wire or three-wire
solenoid powered switch machines drawing up to 1 amp of current (pulsed). Each
output can have it's polarity controlled individually - no need to choose an
output type when you buy or build the card! |
 | Screw Terminals for all input/output/power connections -- No
connectors to make! |
 | Filtered, Pulled-Up Inputs for compatibility with contact closures,
or electronic detectors of all types. Both Input polarity and output polarity
can be set via software. Our BD-8T Tiny Block
Detector is designed specifically to complement the IO-24 card, providing 8
optically-isolated block detectors on a tiny card. |
 | New Functions, including a repeating strobe light output, 4-phase
variable speed "Chase" lights, 3-light and 6-light traffic signals that cycle
continuously. A total of 22 distinct output functions are available, including
support for all signal types, variable speed motors, and crossing flashers.
|
 | Input Holdover allows you to set up a delayed "drop out" of
occupancy signals from attached block detectors which don't have this feature
built in. |
 | Setup Functions, such as input polarity, output polarity, and input
holdover values can be stored permanently on the card, allowing them to be
activated immediately upon power up. |
 | Permanent Functions can be stored and activated automatically at
power-up. For example, set up the IO-24 to control some traffic lights, blink
a sign, operate a strobe light on a tower, or run chase lights on your movie
theater. These functions will then operate right from power-up without even
being connected to the computer! |
Even with all these features, the IO-24 is our most affordable Input/Output
card ever: only $70 in kit form and $90 assembled. Here's a picture of the
IO-24: Outputs at top, inputs on left, power and network connections along
the bottom. Address switches give a choice of 64 addresses.

To get you going in computer control of your railroad, we offer a
"starter system", consisting of an IO-24 card, RS-4 computer interface, connecting
cable, and a copy of our Railroad Operator software (when
available); all for only $119, assembled and ready to go ($99 in kit form). And, the
"Super Starter System", containing an IO-24, RS-4 interface, CBC-8R Block
Controller/Detector, cables, and Railroad Operator software (when
available) -- a
complete computerized control system for a small railroad for only $265 (Kit) or
$315 (Assembled)!
Or get the special package with Railroad and Company at a special price of only
$510 (Kit) or $560 (Assembled).
IMPORTANT NOTE: The IO-24 now comes with removable connectors. With these connectors, you can screw down your
wires to the terminals, but still remove the connectors from the board if
necessary. This allows you to easily swap the board out for troubleshooting
purposes without having to unscrew and re-connect all the wires. The
connectors simply slide onto pins soldered to the board.
